  5. Banff FSC 2025 Icon Feb 22-Mar 1st
Tom Morris as Trip Leader / Jacki Co-lead
Brought about discussion on how to determine trip leader when several interested. Determined a
member needs to be qualified, have at least co-lead a trip. Then those qualified will draw straws. If a
member brings up a new trip, they may be trip leader if they’ve had leader training or experience.
  6. Trip Leader Manual: Committee reviewed/edited on April 16th: (Jacki, Lynn, Brenda, Eileen, Tom,
Ginnie, and Polly). Tom sent out the final draft. Jacki and Polly thought it was fine. Tom had 10 copies
made for $110. ACTION: Wait for Google Doc forms to be updated before scheduling trip leader
training. Set up trip leader training around April 2024. (The Google Doc portion of the Manual is
very difficult to decipher and very out of date. Once the new Google Doc format is up and running, the Google Doc Manual will be deleted.)
  7. Jacki discussed 2nd trip for 2025: Telluride, Deer Valley, Canyons. Mammoth, Snowmass (other than
FSC Jan 18-25) were places of interest mentioned at 9/12 Social. Need to look into Icon pass trip.
After discussing options, Brenda made motion to pick Snomass as 2nd trip not during FSC dates (Icon), Tom 2nd, Motion passed.

Kickoff: Chair: Diane Homa Friday, August 11, 2023 5-7 p.m. at Feather Sound Country Club

  1. Diane reported the $120 expenditure to put add in Tampa Bay Times wound up on City Spark Website,
not Tampa Bay Times. Believe flyer posted in Newsletter may have helped to get more people
attending. Suggested we follow marketing done this year (Diane ran digital Ads in Creative Loafing,
TBN (Tampa Bay News), Parrish News, Feather Sound News, Next Door.com (posted in Diane’s home
area). Copies of Kickoff Flyer distributed by BOD in doctors offices, stores, etc)
  2. Diane suggested “how did you hear about Snowsharks” line be added to sign in sheet so we’d have a
better idea on where to continue our marketing efforts to build attendance. This may also be good idea for new people signing in at our Socials.
  3. A/C went out in original room booked and the larger room worked very nicely.

  2. No money was collected for Disabled Veterans at our 11/14 Social. Jacki announces at each Social
that the collection jar is on the counter for those who want to contribute.
  3. Food Budget Review: Mike’s Pizza wants to charge $13/person attending instead of the current flat
rate of $339.60 for 35 people (=$9.70/person). Recently, we have averaged 40 people a social; which
would total $520 at the $13/person rate. Discussed raising dues to cover increased cost or charging
additional $5 cash per person attending each particular social. Charging $5/person attending would
have to be monitored and that would be difficult. Eileen suggested offering to pay flat $500, based on
40 people attending) instead of by person attending. Polly suggested flat $480 (based on 40 persons =
$12/person). Decided that Jacki would negotiate best flat fee per social (8), based on 40 people.

February: Telluride, Park City Alternates: Whitefish, Beaver Creek
All our BOD members gained insightful ideas from breakout sessions.
Brenda shared some “website solution and payment option” session notes. Website design needs to be
easy to use. FSC uses Wild Apricot. Most banks have capability for payments on-line. We need to
check with our bank regarding their capability. Sports America uses on-line payment; so if our Club
does trips with them, we can go through their system of payment.
Polly shared some of her “Growth” session notes. Budget for marketing. Some clubs use TV/radio
ads/announcements. Gain younger members by offering shorter (4 day) trips. Offer day of free ski
lesson for kids in family. Use of hash-tags in social media, car magnets, advertising in sports stores
like REI, create incentive for Board Members/Members to do non-ski trips year-round.

  14. Greece Cruise 2025 Eileen Morris continuing to research a Spring or Fall trip during a time that the big
cruise ships are not in port. Possibly thru Sean, with Holidays (looking at packages for June or
September 2025) Eileen is also checking with Island Hopping to see what kind of package they may
offer (company that provided tours while on YOLO). Eileen Morris, TL / Lynn Pierce, Co-Lead.

  16. Ireland/Scotland 2025
ACTION: query members, at next social, where most interest is – between Greece, Portugal, Ireland trips.
  17. Trip Leader Reimbursement: Discussion ensued regarding building money into ALL trip budgets so
that Trip Leaders/Co-Leaders get reimbursed for their efforts/work. Although, initially, reimbursement
was only for those who filled their trips according to person count in a specific contract; it is realized
that TL and CoTL put in a lot of effort whether they fill a trip or not. If we want to continue to have
people volunteer to lead trips, Eileen Morris motioned we add a new line item to trip fees, called
“Miscellaneous” allowing an additional $100/person. If not needed for TL reimbursement, the money
could be used for other expenses such as change in Euro rates, etc. Polly 2nd; motion carried.
